The Mississippi Rural Health Association has recently expanded its line of services to provide additional benefits to members.  These services are provided as ‘a la cart’ options for members and may be used as needed.  Note: utilization of these services may incur additional costs above and beyond standard membership fees.


Universal Service Rural Healthcare Program Application Consulting

Healthcare and educational facilities are eligible to apply for the FCC’s Universal Service Rural Healthcare Programs fund, which provides increased broadband connectivity for entities in rural areas across the nation.  This new “Broadband” driven program seeks to enhance the capability of Rural HCPs to deliver a higher level of quality health care through the funding of “Advanced Broadband” services and stimulation of “HCP Consortiums” allowing “Non-Rural” Hospitals to participate for the first time adding expertise to the diagnostic, treatment and administrative process of rural HCP’s.

Eligible healthcare and educational entities include:

  • Post-secondary educational institution offering health care instruction, including a teaching hospital or medical school.
  • Community health center or health center providing health care to migrants.
  • Local health department or agency.
  • Community mental health center.
  • Not-for-profit hospital.
  • Rural health clinic.
  • Skilled nursing facility.
  • Consortium of health care providers consisting of one or more entities described above.

The Mississippi Rural Health Association’s consulting program assists facilities in applying for funds through the FCC Healthcare Connect Fund.  The application ordinarily requests a bid process, but through the Association’s partnership with MiCTA, members are eligible to bypass the bidding process and select their preferred carrier.  In addition, a dedicated consultant will walk you through the application process.

Human Resource Support, Education and Employee Screenings

Healthcare facilities often have difficulties with understanding the laws and requirements around human resources.  In particular, conducting appropriate healthcare background checks can be a daunting process.  The Mississippi Rural Health Association can assist facilities large and small with the basic human resource needs that they have.  Powered by MyHRConcierge, the association offers discounted prices for background checks and other HR consulting needs.
