HPSA and Health Workforce

The Mississippi Rural Health Association, in partnership with the Mississippi State Department of Health, Office of Rural Health and Primary Care, is conducting research and surveys of Mississippi’s primary care physicians and mental health professionals.

These surveys are conducted in order to determine the accuracy of Mississippi’s federally designated ‘health professional shortage areas,’ or HPSAs.  Proper designation of HPSAs are essentially important since they show us where more healthcare professionals are needed.  Further, proper designation of HPSAs will allow for proper identification of health care professionals within those areas.

Data gathered is confidential and all data is submitted through the Office of Rural Health and Primary Care.
